Titanic

My dad is visiting from California at the moment and last weekend I took him along with my husband and two kids to Belfast for the weekend.  We hit all the tourist hot spots including the Titanic  museum and Crumlin Road Goal.  I had such a great time and really enjoyed learning about the rich history of the city.  I dressed comfortably because it was cold and we did a lot of walking.  I layered a turtle neck (which are very hot right now!) under a dress from Sandro.  I also paired it with a long black coat, thick tights and my OTK boots, which were so comfortable and great for walking.  I took a few outfit snaps in front of the Titanic museum. xo

Short Skirt / Long Jacket

I am deadly for window shopping!  When I go to Marks and Spencer for my weekly shop, I have to pass the likes of H&M, River Island and New Look.  They always have the new stock displayed in the window and I am tempted in to have a look!  This week I spotted this skit in the window of H&M and immediately fell in love.  The skirt has a really cool fringe and embroidery detail at the bottom that makes it look like beading.  It looks much more expensive than the 25 euros I paid for it!  It is still freezing outside, so a long jacket was a must, but this skirt will be perfect for warmer weather as well.  It is so versatile, I plan on taking it on my holidays to Ibiza and also wearing it to work with black opaque tights underneath. xo

Side Slits and a Fringe

Well, it's only a few weeks into January and I'm back to my monochrome ways!  It's a well known fact that New Years resolutions don't last very long. . .When it comes to fashion, it makes sense to stick to a tried and true formula that works for your body type while staying true to your personal style.  That being said, it's fun to try new things and push the boundaries out as well!  I bought this sweater at Cos last week in Dublin.  It's part of the new collection and a great way to transition into the spring while staying warm.  I love the unique buttons down the side that you can wear open or closed for layering.  xo

Pleated Leather

I'm sure you may have noticed by now that one of my staple styles is high waisted skirts, crop tops and anything monochrome.  This is a fashion formula that just seems to work for me every time.  Keeping the neckline high and the hemline long ensures the look stays classy.  I recently braved the icy roads to make a shopping trip down to Dublin and I picked up this leather look skirt in Top Shop.  It's part of the new SS15 collection.  I am so over the sales at this stage as they never have my size left in stock and everything is picked through. The stores were full of gorgeous SS clothes, so let's hope this weather lifts soon! xo

Fresh Princess

Happy new year everyone! As one of my resolutions, I would like to try to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe. . .starting after this outfit post!  I decided to call this look "Fresh Princess" because it reminds me a lot of my childhood in the early 90's growing up and watching "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" on TV.  If anyone else remembers and loves that show as much as I do, then you will know what I am talking about! The faux fur coat is very princessey like Hilary, while the Isabel Marant high tops and crop top are a bit more funky like Will.  This outfit is a great laid back alternative to a dress or skirt for going out.  And I must say the coat was a steal in Penney's for only 40 euros and looks much more expensive! xo

Turtle Necks and Tutus

I was in beautiful Ards National Park amoungst all the autumn leaves falling off the trees and I took the opportunity to have an impromptu photo shoot in this outfit that I love for fall!  I will most definitely be rocking turtle necks this season.  I think they are just so chic (not to mention practical for keeping warm!)  I also recently bought this hat in Penney's for less than 5 euros.  It doesn't come out that well in the photos, but it has a really cute mesh bow and jewel detail.  What is your favourite fall trend? xo

Monochrome at the G

I was in Galway a few weeks ago for a medical conference and I decided to stop by the G hotel for a bite to eat and one of their famous cocktails.  This hotel is a bloggers dream - it was designed in part by milliner Phillip Treacy and has so many unique and gorgeous features.  I just so happened to het chatting to photographer Peter Harkin who was there to shoot a wedding and he took these gorgeous photos for me.  (It sure beats my husband or four year old taking the photos!!)  Check out his work here: www.peterharkin.com
